As we continue into 2025, we’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone – Mentorcore, our mentorship program for newer graduate veterinarians, has successfully wrapped up its very first cohort! Launched with the goal of bridging the gap between student life and professional practice, Mentorcore has already made a profound impact on the lives of our mentees, and we couldn’t be more excited to keep the momentum going with Cohort 2.
A Vision Brought to Life
Dr. Vicki Myers, the driving force behind Mentorcore, reflects on this journey with immense pride:
“Mentorcore helps to build the bridge between student and DVM while providing tips and guidance on navigating your first years out. The very first Mentorcore Cohort recently ended and I am so proud of the impact it has made, and relationships created. Just three years ago, this was a vision of mine to support new grads and create a network of support and subject matter experts. Mission completed and exceeded my expectations. Each interactive session confirmed there was a need and appreciation for the efforts. Cohort 2 is already underway; I’m excited to see where Mentorcore will take us all as we learn and grow together.”
Dr. Myers’ passion for mentorship is the foundation of this program, and her dedication has already fostered an incredible community of learning, support, and professional growth.
Mentorcore in Action: Mentee Experiences
The impact of Mentorcore is best described by those who have experienced it firsthand. Dr. Stover, one of our mentees, shares:
“I’ve been at one of Encore’s emergency clinics for almost a year now. I moved here from a small GP practice in search of a more challenging/faster-paced caseload and have been interested in emergency medicine since vet school rotations. Encore has been super supportive and involved in making sure I am able to feel comfortable and successful even in one of the more stressful positions within the field. They have a company-wide mentorship program for new grads, and I even video chat with two of my Encore contacts regularly just to check in.”
Dr. Cassandra Gioffre also emphasizes the value of the program, saying:
“The virtual program has been so informative and enlightening! The mentorship I’ve been in has taught me so much. I’m very happy that I’m a part of this program!”
Looking Ahead: The Future of Mentorcore
With cohort 2 already in full swing, we’re energized by the continued enthusiasm of our mentors and mentees. Our goal remains the same – to provide new veterinarians with the guidance, resources, and community they need to navigate the early years of their careers with confidence and support. This sense of community extends beyond the cohort itself. We also offer a comprehensive resource list of subject matter experts and tenured veterinarians within Encore, available to offer support and share their knowledge on a wide range of interests, including dentistry, orthopedics, exotics, spay/neuter, and more.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who has been a part of Mentorcore so far. To our first cohort graduates – congratulations! You have set the foundation for what this program can achieve. To our second cohort – welcome! We can’t wait to see how you grow and thrive within this community.
