At Encore Vet Group, mentorship isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something you’ll find woven into everyday conversations, partnerships, and leadership across our community of veterinary hospitals. Whether you’re a practice manager, veterinarian, or team member in any role, there’s always someone nearby willing to share insight, encouragement, and support!
In honor of Thank Your Mentor Day, which was on January 21st, we asked members of our teams to share a few words about mentors who’ve made a meaningful impact on their journeys. The responses were a powerful reminder of how mentorship shows up in real, lasting ways!
For Cyndie Corse, Practice Manager at Country View Veterinary Service, mentorship meant having someone steady in her corner, which is what Mary Schmidt, Regional Practice Manager, was able to offer her:
“From day one, Mary Schmidt has calmly and thoughtfully helped me navigate the epic task of running a veterinary hospital, offering clarity, reassurance, and wisdom every step of the way. Her patience as a teacher and her ability to validate me in challenging moments have made an incredible difference in my confidence and growth.”
At Mint Hill Animal Hospital, Ali Cordera highlighted the impact of leadership and partnership, by thanking Laura Bresiger, Director of Practice Leadership and Operations:
“Laura, thank you for being the mentor every Practice Manager hopes for. Your support and guidance have helped me become the strongest version of myself as a PM, and that carries over into being the best Mom at home. I’m so grateful for you.”
Ali also shared appreciation for Medical Director Dr. Sean Allers:
“His steady leadership, collaboration, and the way he consistently shows up for both our team and our patients has strengthened me as a Practice Manager. I’m grateful for his guidance and proud to lead alongside him.”
That same mentorship extends across roles, as Stacey Yost at Mint Hill Animal Hospital shared:
“I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Sean Allers for his mentorship and support in my role as Inventory Manager. His guidance, patience, and willingness to share his knowledge have helped me grow both professionally and personally.”
These stories reflect what makes Encore special. Our community of hospitals creates mentorship at your fingertips, with access to experienced leaders, collaborative partners, and diverse perspectives across roles and locations. Growth happens naturally when people are encouraged to learn from one another!
To support mentorship even more intentionally, Encore offers Mentorcore, our 12-month veterinary mentorship program designed for early-career veterinarians. Mentorcore combines one-on-one guidance at the clinic level with a supportive peer community and structured learning, helping new grads build confidence, resilience, and strong professional foundations.
Mentorship is at the heart of how we grow stronger together at Encore. To the mentors who show up, share their knowledge, and lift others along the way, thank you! Your impact reaches further than you know.
