Field Support Veterinarian
Dr. Dawn Bookmyer is one of our Field Support Veterinarians with decades of hands-on clinical and leadership experience. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and purchased her first small animal practice immediately after graduation—one she had worked in throughout her undergraduate and veterinary school years. Dr. Bookmyer owned and operated that practice for 18 years before selling it in 2011 to pursue her next venture.
In 2012, she opened Animal Hospital of Shawnee Hills, where she continued to build a thriving practice before joining Encore in 2021. In January 2024, Dr. Bookmyer began her relief and field support journey, allowing her to work closely with teams across multiple Encore practices and support them through her deep operational and clinical expertise.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Bookmyer has been married to her husband, Ronnie, for over 34 years, and they have two adult children. Their daughter, Emily, will be married next summer. Their home is shared with two Golden Retrievers, Kluber and Bodhi, along with Gary, her beloved former clinic cat. When she’s not working, she enjoys tending to her koi pond and gardening!
